IT Monitoring Plan

Most IT emergencies give a warning first. A server's disk fills up for weeks before it stops. A hard drive reports errors before it fails. A computer misses months of Windows updates before it becomes the easy way in. Without anyone watching, you find out when something breaks, and that's the most expensive time to find out.

The Aspendora Technologies Monitoring Plan is for businesses that use our hourly IT services and don't need a full managed plan. We watch your computers and servers around the clock and tell you when something needs attention. You decide what to fix, and you only pay for the work you approve.

The Problem

Why break-fix gets expensive

Problems Build Quietly

Full disks, failing drives and missed updates don’t announce themselves until the day something stops working.

Emergencies Cost More

A planned fix during business hours is cheaper than an after-hours rescue with your team waiting.

Every Call Starts Cold

When nobody is watching between calls, the first hour of each visit is spent working out what changed.

What We Watch

Computers and servers

  • Offline servers: we're alerted when a server stops checking in.
  • Disk space: warnings when a drive is running low, and an alert when it's nearly full.
  • Failing hard drives: drives that report errors or predict their own failure.
  • Missing Windows updates: computers that have fallen behind on updates, and computers waiting for a restart to finish installing them.
  • Antivirus health: computers where the built-in antivirus is turned off or out of date.
  • Server performance: memory or processor use that stays high.

Microsoft 365 (optional)

  • Mailbox rules that forward or hide email, a common sign that an account has been taken over.
  • New administrator accounts or changes to who has admin rights.
  • Accounts without multi-factor authentication.
  • Mailboxes that are nearly full.

What happens when something's wrong

The alert opens a ticket with our team, and we review it during business hours. We look at it, and if it needs action we contact you with what we found and what we recommend. Nothing is fixed without your approval, so there are no surprise bills. Approved work is billed at our normal hourly rate ($150 per hour during business hours).

Because our tools are already on your computers, we can also connect remotely as soon as you call, without having to talk anyone through installing anything.

The Plan

Getting started is simple

01

Schedule a Discovery Call

Tell us how many computers and servers you have, and whether you use Microsoft 365.

02

We Install and Tune

We install our lightweight monitoring software and set the alerts so you hear about real problems, not noise.

03

We Watch, You Decide

We contact you when something needs attention. You approve the fix, or decide it can wait.

What the Monitoring Plan Is Not

We want to be clear about this, because "monitored" can sound like "protected":

  • It is not cybersecurity protection. There is no endpoint detection and response, no security operations center, no email security and no security awareness training. Monitoring tells you about problems; it does not stop attacks.
  • It is not backup. If a computer or server fails or is hit by ransomware, monitoring can't bring your data back.
  • It doesn't include fixes. Repairs, updates and other work are billed hourly, only when you approve them.
  • It doesn't install updates. We tell you which computers are behind; installing updates is hourly work, or included in a managed plan.

All of that is included in our managed IT plans, starting at $795 per month for small teams. Many clients start with monitoring and move up when they see what it finds.

Monitoring Plan pricing

  • Workstations: $15 per month each (desktops and laptops).
  • Servers: $40 per month each.
  • Microsoft 365 alerts: $3 per user per month (optional).

There's a $99 monthly minimum, no setup fee, and it's month to month. The Monitoring Plan is available to clients with an hourly service agreement; see all of our rates.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Monitoring Plan cost?

$15 per workstation and $40 per server each month, plus $3 per user per month if you add Microsoft 365 alerts. The minimum is $99 per month, there's no setup fee, and it's month to month.

Are fixes included?

No. When something needs attention we tell you what we found and what we recommend, and you decide. Approved work is billed at our hourly rate. If you'd rather have fixes, updates and support included, see our managed IT plans.

Does monitoring protect us from ransomware or hackers?

No. Monitoring watches the health of your computers; it does not detect or stop attacks. Protection against ransomware and account takeover comes from endpoint detection and response, email security, multi-factor authentication and backups, which are part of our managed plans. The optional Microsoft 365 alerts can flag some signs of a compromised email account, but they are an early warning, not protection.

How quickly will you respond to an alert?

Monitoring runs around the clock, and our team reviews alerts during normal business hours. There is no guaranteed response time, and we don't respond after hours unless you ask for and approve after-hours work ($250 per hour).

Will you contact us about every alert?

No. We set the alerts to catch real problems, and our team reviews each one before contacting you. Small issues that resolve on their own, like a computer that was simply turned off for the weekend, don’t become phone calls.

Who can sign up?

The Monitoring Plan is for businesses that use our hourly IT services. If you don’t have an hourly service agreement yet, we’ll set one up at the same time.

Does the monitoring software slow computers down?

No. It’s a small background program that checks in periodically and uses very little memory or processing power.
