Data Backup and Recovery

If your business data disappeared tomorrow — ransomware, a failed server, a flooded office — how many days could your company survive? For most Houston small and medium businesses, the honest answer is “not many.” Aspendora Technologies provides fully managed, ransomware-resistant data backup and disaster recovery for businesses across the Houston metro, from our office in La Porte.

Houston Businesses Face Disasters Most Cities Don’t

Houston isn’t a typical IT market. Between hurricane season, Gulf Coast flooding, and storm-surge risk along the Ship Channel, disaster recovery here isn’t a hypothetical line item — it’s a question of when, not if. Hurricane Harvey alone put thousands of on-premise servers underwater. A backup sitting on a NAS in your server closet doesn’t help when the closet floods. That’s why every Aspendora backup is replicated off-site to a geographically separate data center — so a single storm, fire, or break-in can never take out both your office and your backups at once.

What’s Included in Our Backup & Disaster Recovery Service

  • Automated daily or continuous backups of servers, workstations, and Microsoft 365 data — no one has to remember to press a button.
  • Off-site, encrypted replication to a dissimilar server in a physically separate location.
  • Ransomware-resistant, immutable backups — copies an attacker can’t encrypt or delete, even after breaching your network.
  • Tested restores. We periodically verify recoveries so you know the backup works before you need it — the failure mode that sinks most businesses is a backup nobody ever tested.
  • A documented recovery plan with defined RTO and RPO targets for your critical systems.

RTO and RPO — What They Mean for Your Business

Two numbers define what a disaster actually costs you. RPO (Recovery Point Objective) is how much data you can afford to lose, measured in time — a one-hour RPO means at most an hour of work is gone. RTO (Recovery Time Objective) is how fast you’re back up and running. We set both with you, based on what your business can truly tolerate, then build the backup plan to hit them. A law firm and a machine shop have very different answers — your plan shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all.

Industries We Protect Across the Houston Metro

Data Backup & Recovery FAQ

How quickly can you recover our data after a disaster?

For most clients we target same-business-day recovery of critical systems, with exact RTO/RPO targets agreed up front. Individual file restores are usually completed in minutes.

Do you back up Microsoft 365 (email, OneDrive, SharePoint)?

Yes. Microsoft does not back up your 365 data the way most businesses assume — retention policies and recycle bins are not a backup. We add a true, independent backup of your 365 environment. See our Microsoft 365 Backup service.

Are your backups protected against ransomware?

Yes. We use immutable, off-site backup copies that can’t be encrypted or deleted by an attacker who gets into your network — so you can restore instead of paying a ransom.

We already have an external hard drive or NAS. Isn’t that enough?

A local-only backup fails in exactly the disasters that matter most in Houston — flood, fire, theft, and ransomware that spreads to attached drives. Off-site replication is what makes a backup survivable. For broader protection, pair it with our managed IT services in Houston.

The Problem

Backups That Don't Actually Work

Most "backups" have never been tested. When you need them, they fail.

🔒

Ransomware Encrypts Backups Too

Old-style backups connected to the network get encrypted along with everything else.

🕐

Recovery Takes Days, Not Hours

If you are rebuilding from scratch, you are closed for days, losing thousands.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How often are backups taken?

Most servers and critical workstations are backed up continuously throughout the day, with point-in-time snapshots taken hourly. Full daily backups are stored both on-site and offsite.

Do you test backup restores?

Yes. We routinely test restores to validate that backups are recoverable. A backup you have never tested is a backup you cannot trust.

Where are offsite backups stored?

Encrypted offsite backups are stored in geographically separate data centers, away from the Houston area, so a regional disaster cannot take out both copies.
