Some of us grew up in the pre-mice era and because of that we might already know some keyboard shortcuts for Windows. Considering that I am considered ancient to some people, I don’t have a problem admitting that I remember installing Windows 1.0.

But even so, there is a lot to be said about Windows keyboard shortcuts.  Sometimes it’s a lot faster than using the mouse. Listed below are what I have found so far.

Windows key + U Accessisibility – Open Ease of Access Center.
Windows key + L Account – Lock your PC or switch accounts.
Windows key + PrtScn Capture a screenshot and save in Screenshots folder.
Ctrl + C Clipboard – Copy selected items to clipboard.
Ctrl + X Clipboard – Cut selected items.
Ctrl + D Clipboard – Delete the selected item and move it to the Recycle Bin.
Ctrl + V Clipboard – Paste content from clipboard.
Ctrl + Y Clipboard – Redo an action.
Ctrl + A Clipboard – Select all content.
Ctrl + Z Clipboard – Undo an action.
Windows key + Ctrl +D Desktop – Add a virtual desktop.
Windows key + Ctrl + F4 Desktop – Close current virtual desktop.
Ctrl + F4 Desktop – Close the active window.
Windows key + D Desktop – Display and hide the desktop.
Windows key + Up arrow key Desktop – Maximize app windows.
Windows key + Home Desktop – Minimize all but the active desktop window (restores all windows on second stroke).
Windows key + M Desktop – Minimize all windows.
Windows key + Down arrow key Desktop – Minimize app windows.
Windows key + Left arrow key Desktop – Snap app windows left.
Windows key + Right arrow key Desktop – Snap app windows right.
Windows key + Shift + Up arrow Desktop – Stretch the desktop window to the top and bottom of the screen.
Windows key + Ctrl + Left or Right arrow Desktop – Switch between virtual desktops.
Windows key + Comma Desktop – Temporarily peek at the desktop.
Windows key + E File Explorer – Open File Explorer.
Windows key + G Game – Open Game bar when a game is open.
Alt + Left arrow key Go back.
Alt + Right arrow key Go foward.
Alt + Page down Move down one screen.
Alt + Page Up Move up one screen.
Windows key + A Open Action center.
Windows key + C Open Cortana in listening mode.
Windows key + Enter Open Narrator.
Windows key Open or close Start Menu.
Windows key + X Open Quick Link menu.
Ctrl + Shift + Esc Open Task Manager.
