Open Source software. Some think it’s the greatest thing ever because you have access to the source code and because if this the possibilities are endless.

Except when you start to actually look at the code. Sure, the possibilities are endless, if you know how to read the code and program. I’ve used one particular open source project for over 10 years now and instead of getting easier to read, it seems lately it has gotten harder to read. For the last several years they’ve been trying to clean the code up so it is a mixture of the old way and the new MVC concept. Unfortunately the new code seems harder for me to follow than the old.

This isn’t being pointed out to criticize the project. I’m just pointing out that you have to understand your limits and your abilities.
